What You Will Learn in Kumon Philippines Education and Parenting Seminar
Kumon Philippines kicked-off its 8-city tour on education and parenting seminar series entitled “Prepare Your Children for the Future”, at SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City with more than 300 proud parents troop the seminar.
What are the lessons parents learn from the education and parenting seminar?
- Parents learned the great importance of the parents’ participation in their children’s early years of learning from celebrity mom Suzi Entrata-Abrera.
- Parents learned the current issues in the country’s educational system. To be highlighted is the medium of instruction used in classrooms, why the Bilingual Policy (the use of English for Mathematics and Science; and the use of Filipino for other subjects) hinders students from fully comprehending their classroom lessons. UNESCO Literary Research awardee Dr. Jasmin Acuña will reveal that the use of the mother tongue as medium of instruction can actually improve learning of Science, Mathematics, and even English.
- Parents learned the great importance of learning the fundamentals – native language, English, and Mathematic; what life skills is and on how to inculcate it upon the children through the learning of the fundamentals from Kumon Instruction leader Olivia Angeles
- Parents learned the great importance of their proactive role to their children’s schoolwork, the pivotal role in developing their children’s interest to learning, shaping their attitudes and values, and forming their other life skills, while they are at their early years from Professor Patricia Cepeda-Sison, a psychologist and psychotherapist.
