Do Not Throw Your Used PC, Turn it to Gold

June 26th, 2008 by Ellis | No Comments | Filed in Education/Personal Growth

Instead of throwing it away or selling it to junkshops to earn few hundred pesos, you can turn your used PC into gold. Though, not the precious metal but golden opportunity to help others by donating it to the BPI Foundation, the Bank of the Philippine Islands philanthropic arm.

Under the BPI’s Information Systems Group (ISG) that runs a program called e-Donate, your old but working computers (with Window 98 OS software programs) and unusable ones are also donated to schools and recycled into learning tools.

One of BPI Foundation’s recipients is the Manpower Training Center of the Don Bosco Technical Institute in Makati City. This vocational school turns used and unusable computers from BPI Foundation into learning tools for computer repair and maintenance. About a hundred of Don Bosco’s 1,300 vocational students are part of the Center’s outreach program that gets young people who cannot afford high school education off the streets, away from drugs and fighting chance in life.

Your donation will not only help the environment, but it will also greatly help teach hands-on computer maintenance instead of just theories.

Will you have a golden feeling, if students who used your used PC will graduate their course and someday run their own computer shops, which is now a huge demand?

I’m sure you will be glowing more than the 24 carat gold.
