Families of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) all over the country have started signing up for free computer courses at the six regional offices of the Overseas Workers’ Welfare Administration (OWWA) after the series of launchings of the Microsoft Tulay Computer literacy program.

It noted that in Davao City, 70 potential students belonging to OFW families have signed up even before the program was officially launched last week.

In San Fernando City, Pampanga, 50 students signed up in a single day, right after the information technology learning facility opened.

The Tulay community learning facilities in Tacloban City and Davao City are slated to have their first batch of graduates this week.

All graduates under the Tulay program are taught computer and word processing fundamentals and Internet tools and applications such as how to send e-mails for free.

Since computer skills are a must have in today’s global environment and with the user-friendly environment of the Tulay program so students can acquire skills to be competitive, knowledge learn in information technology will help boost the self-confidence of Overseas Filipino Workers and their families while expanding career horizons.
