The objective of the JDS Project is to provide the Philippine nationals with opportunities for obtaining master’s degree at the Japanese universities in order to support human resource development policy of the Government of the Philippines, and eventually to extend and strengthen the bilateral relationships between the Philippines and Japan. * Has a bachelor’s degree relevant to the target fields except for ICT field, which applicants should have bachelor’s degree in ICT or equivalent; and
* Has not been awarded foreign scholarship for Master’s degree

The UWC, co-chaired by Nelson Mandela and Queen Noor, is the only global education movement that brings together students aged 16 to 19 from all over the world at pre-university level. Students are selected based on merit regardless of race, sex, or creed and live together in an environment designed to foster international understanding, peace and justice.

The two-year International Baccalaureate program serves as the educational framework but of equal importance, community service programs allow the teenagers to work together. The selection process looks for candidates with an open mind and the personal qualities that will enable them to live and study for two years in an intensive multicultural environment. UWC-Philippines is chaired by Cesar Virata and the selection committee includes other UWC alumni and parents.

In the past, Filipino scholars have been sent to UWCs in Canada, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, Italy, USA, Wales and Venezuela. There are currently seven Filipino scholars in UWCs.

Each winner will also be able to sponsor the education of a less-privileged or visually-handicapped child from World Vision or Resources for the Blind. Under the winner’s name, PSBank will pay for the completion of either the elementary or high school education of the beneficiary child.

Under the “Save It Forward” program, one entry number will be issued for every average daily balance (ADB) increment of P5,000 for Peso Savings and Peso Checking accounts and $500 for Dollar Savings accounts. The higher the ADB and the longer depositors keep the account open, the more entries he gets and the more chances of winning in the draw.

Twenty-five winners each will be drawn on October 15, 2008 and January 15, 2009 while 50 winners will be drawn on April 15, 2009.

The prize of a one-year scholarship for the winning depositor’s own child or any child of his choice is applicable for school year 2009-2010. A maximum amount of P100,000 shall be applied to tuition fees only for DepEd/CHED and TESDA-accredited schools. The scholarship will cover elementary, high school, vocational and college levels only. Pre-school and post-graduate studies are excluded from the program.

Graduating elementary student is qualified if:

1. He/she belongs to the upper 10% of the graduating elementary class of school duly recognized by DepEd, as certified by the School Principal, or has a special aptitude in science and math as supported by the report card and letter of recommendation.
2. A Filipino citizen with no pending application as immigrant to any foreign country
3. Not more than 15 years of age by June 30, 2009.
4. Be in good health and fit to undergo a rigorous academic program.
5. Be of good moral character, and
6. Not have taken the PSHS NCE previously.

Practical Nursing is an emerging career abroad known as Vocational Nursing which the AMA Education System has pioneered in the Philippines as Practical Nursing. NCSBN is the umbrella organization that provides leadership and advance regulatory excellence in public protection for both registered nurses and licensed practical nursing professionals.

The course is a ladderized program, for Practical Nursing graduates may continue their education to become a registered nurse by pursuing the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program in St. Augustine College of Nursing. Or they may opt to go to Canada, UK and the Middle East and continue with the BSN program while working and earning part time at the same time.

Under the program, a participating student who would earn a globally recognized certificate and diploma after finishing his course at MSIT, would be allowed to work part-time and earn as much as A$ 22.00 per hour in the healthcare industry in Australia.                                                                               

A 24-month diploma course will earn an 18-month work visa for an MSIT graduate and enable him to pursue a satisfying career in Australia. 

Married participating students, while still studying, could be accompanied by their spouses, who could also work and earn as much. This arrangement will keep the family intact while maximizing financial opportunities.
