I didn’t vote last year’s Philippine Blog Awards for I have not into blogging yet. But now that I have been blogging for almost a year, I will have to cast my vote for my choice blogger that not only inspires me but also for countless Filipino bloggers.

TESDA Training Center Taguig Campus Enterprise Information and Communication Technology Course Offerings and Fees

Filipinos residing in the Southern part of Metro Manila who wanted to get good vocational course training in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can try the TESDA Training Center Taguig Campus Enterprise. This co-management project of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority and CATIA Foundation, Inc., offers two-week ICT courses that prepare students to land an ICT industry related job. After training, most of the trainees are hired by companies or referred to companies as they desired for on-the-job training.

Here are the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) short-courses and corresponding fees:

Office Applications (Windows XP, Office 2003/2007)

Duration: 40 Hours

Fees: P4,800.00

This course is designed to develop the competency on an IT User in using the computer with installed software for windows, word processing, presentation graphics and electronic spreadsheet. Participants shall be provided with lecture/discussions and hand-on activities to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills along the competencies covered in the course. The course also prepares the participants for office work in various industry sectors. The course serves as an introductory program leading to higher level computer competencies.

Computer Installation, Maintenance and Repair

Duration: 40 Hours

Fees: P4,800.00

This course is designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of a Computer Service Technician in accordance with industry standards. It covers core competencies such as install, maintain, and repair computer systems and peripheral devices.

PC Networking Installation and Maintenance

Duration: 40 Hours

Fees: P4,800.00

This course is designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude of the trainees to become a System Network Technician in accordance with industry standard. Technical know-how and comprehensive hands-on exercises shall enable the participants to acquire the competencies in installing, configuring and maintaining network systems.

Database Management and Application Programming

Duration: 40 Hours

Fees: P4,800.00

This course is designed to equip the participants with the knowledge and skills in creating tables, forms, queries and generating reports using relational database management software. Actual hands-on exercises shall ensure the acquisition of competency in designing, creating and managing the database.

Microcontroller Programming and Application

Duration: 40 Hours

Fees: P4,800.00

This course is designed to equip the participants with the knowledge, skills and attitude of the trainees in Programming and Interfacing of Microcontroller with the target applications. This course enables prototype builders to incorporate intelligence to their machines. Building prototype shall be part of the training programs. The course integrates lectures with actual hands-on sessions.

Assemble Electronic Device and Circuits

Duration: 40 Hours

Fees: P4,800.00

This course is designed to equip the participants with the knowledge and skills required by an electronic manufacturing industry in support of related occupations such as shipboard engineer, agriculture, food processing and/or repair and maintain electronic equipment. The course includes identifying values and determining defects of resistorx, capacitorx, coils, diodes and transistors using VOM, Variable Output Power Supply, Function Generator and Oscilloscope Principles of DC, AC and electronic circuits are learned by performance. Safety for both lives and equipment is at all times given a priority. It is an introductory program leading to higher logic controls and microcontrollers. It includes acceptable practices used in assembling electronic devices and circuits.

The Information and Communication Technology area has three laboratories and a Learning Resource Center. Each laboratory is equipped with Pentium IV, Pentium D personal computers with flat LCD monitors. The number of participants is limited to ensure a 1:1 machine-trainee ratio. Participants of the training programs are provided with comprehensive hands-on exercises and training assessment to ensure the acquisition of skills, knowledge and attitudes required of a skilled worker. Lectures and discussions are delivered as part of the theoretical portion of the program. Participants are also provided with hand-outs, manuals, books and other training kits to supplement the learning process. Training certificates are issued to participants upon completion of the programs and compliance with the training requirements.

Scholarship Program That Benefits Bank Account Holder’s Personal Scholar and Less-Fortunate Child

Through PSBank’s “Save It Forward” program, Peso Savings, Checking and Dollar Savings account holders can have a chance to win one of 100 full-year scholarships covering any year level between grade school, high school or college (including vocational school) for their own child or any child of their choice.

Each winner will also be able to sponsor the education of a less-privileged or visually-handicapped child from World Vision or Resources for the Blind. Under the winner’s name, PSBank will pay for the completion of either the elementary or high school education of the beneficiary child.

Under the “Save It Forward” program, one entry number will be issued for every average daily balance (ADB) increment of P5,000 for Peso Savings and Peso Checking accounts and $500 for Dollar Savings accounts. The higher the ADB and the longer depositors keep the account open, the more entries he gets and the more chances of winning in the draw.

Twenty-five winners each will be drawn on October 15, 2008 and January 15, 2009 while 50 winners will be drawn on April 15, 2009.

The prize of a one-year scholarship for the winning depositor’s own child or any child of his choice is applicable for school year 2009-2010. A maximum amount of P100,000 shall be applied to tuition fees only for DepEd/CHED and TESDA-accredited schools. The scholarship will cover elementary, high school, vocational and college levels only. Pre-school and post-graduate studies are excluded from the program.
